This shaker set is turned from Banksia pods, the fruit of the Australian Banksia tree.  Banksias are trees that produce a nectar-rich flower and, eventually, a large seed pod.

The seed pods, which take several years to mature, are hard and solid.  Working without a pattern, I hand-turn the shakers so that they match each other in size and shape.

The shakers are fashioned with plastic salt and pepper inserts topped with a chrome cap.  The salt shaker cap has a single hole; the pepper shaker has three.  The shakers refill from the top.  Simply unscrew the cap to refill.

Each set is finished with multiple coats of a durable polyurethane, hand-sanded between coats to produce a glossy sheen.

Dimensions: 4-1/2″ tall, 1-1/2″ at base of each shaker.

Use and Care Instructions:  Wipe clean with a damp cloth and dry with a soft towel.
