This box with a sliding lid is made using finger joint construction. The box itself is made out of cherry, which is a lovely fine-grained wood that darkens over time to take on a rich hue. The lid is maple with a bloodwood pull. The lid’s slider mechanism has a stop on it so that the box lid will not accidentally slip off.

What could you put in this box? It’s the right size for pencils and pens, crayons or markers, poker chips, game board pieces, playing cards, or craft or sewing accessories. It would be a nice addition to a dresser or nightstand for keys, your wallet, or spare change.
