This pepper mill is made from alternating staves of black walnut and hard maple.  The top and base are made from a very nice piece of figured walnut.  On its base, this mill stands just shy of 14 inches tall.  The mill and base are protected by multiple coats of a durable polyurethane finish. The premium-grade grinding mechanism should last a lifetime, but can be replaced if ever needed.
